003 [Video]

[Phibrizzo has a magical tome in his lap when he looks into his journal for this video broadcast. It's interesting, the things one can find in the library. He's learned a bit about magic in other worlds.]

Just curious, but how many people here practice magic, or come from a world where people use magic?

[This inquiring mind wants to know. Specifically, he wants to know who poses the most potential threat, but from an academic standpoint, he is sincerely interested as well. In that vein, he shares a little bit of information about his own world.]

There are more people who can't use it than those who can in my world, but it's still common enough for there to be a Sorcerer's Guild where magic is formally taught. A lot of people who can't use magic directly can still use magic objects made by a sorcerer.

[Including brass rackets. He'd like to get some of those here in Luceti and introduce the sport. The chaos and hilarity would be well worth it. But that's not the point of today's broadcast.]

I've also noticed there are a lot of people with powers here. If you have them, are there a lot of people who have them in your world? And if you don't have them, are there people in your world who do have them? I'm kind of curious if there's some kind of thing that makes people more likely to wind up here.

[Well no one told Abel that]

Well that's a shame... I think I'd rather have someone who can eat me be friends with me. Seems kind of like asking for trouble if you're not.

No, I was just treated a little differently. My teacher was the archangel of wind, Hisui.

[A chuckle is heard before he speaks again, but it's dry. Forced.] From what I understand, Valachia would be one of those worlds you've read about. Those of faith will insist that God holds ultimate jurisdiction over the souls of His children, and so committing souls to crystal is a rare and forbidden art.

[Not that he hasn't dabbled in the forbidden, however. The lives of Dracula's generals were dark, and that sort of blasphemy was done on almost daily basis.]

In terms of raw power, a member of a warrior known as Vegeta. He and those related to him should all be considered potentially dangerous, as they have high levels of chi power, able to cause enough damage to destroy a mountainside even while under the barrier's influence. The other one who was fighting and caused this incident has since left the village, another warrior of similar caliber known as Goku. In terms of scheming and manipulation, I would say Loki has a high likelihood of being able to figure out plans, and likely has a few schemes going. Saori is quite a talented individual, and she is similarly dangerous to Vegeta and others, and she is also a spirit and able to identify what we are.

Thankfully she seems quite content to keep that under wraps for the time being.

Hey, it's possible. I think if anyone would know, it's Yen Sid-- he's one heck of a sorcerer, and you wouldn't believe how many books he's crammed into his study.

[It's not quite on the level of a library, but it's still impressive. The guy had all sorts of factoids to prep him for his exam, too.]

Himeno had to practice to be able to work with us, but that's... kinda different. She's the Pretear, not a Knight.

Well, I told her there was no other like me here. A lord is quite different from a servant after all.

[He inclines his head]

Yes. There's wind, earth, water, and fire. And even their personalities match their element.

I happened upon Miss Saori after she was attempting to work through some of her sore feelings. I believe she had just lost someone close to her or something to that effect.

[He gives a bit of a shrug at that. The technical aspect of losing someone he understood, but the emotions it evoked seemed a bit foreign to him]

Of course, it was all too apparent that despite her attempts she was not handling things particularly well at the time. So I was a bit drawn to her, and we had a little chat.

Lots of stuff. Just one Pretear and seven Knights. And we have to use our own Leafe, only she can actually make it. We're supposed to protect her and help her fight.

'Tis refreshing to hear of magic being used for the betterment of others. Surely, such a feat did not come without cost? Should I use too much of my magic at once, I become weary and must rest before I can cast another spell or channel energy. As a child, sorcery was incredibly draining to me.
